About La Quinta
The City of La Quinta is at the Southeast end of the Coachella Valley. Nestled up against the Santa Rosa Mountains. The city was named after the famous La Quinta Resort, which opened in 1926. The city was incorporated in 1980.
La Quinta is a fast-growing community and is one of the most popular vacation destinations, especially with “snowbirds”, who visit or buy homes to enjoy the California lifestyle and the warm sun. It is well known as the premier playground for active living, with outdoor dining, boutique shops, resorts of all kinds, world-class golf, and the old charm of Old Town La Quinta. Hiking: La Quinta is well known for its world-famous hiking trails that offer spectacular trails surrounded by beautiful mountain views and natural beauty. You can choose a long, short, or anything in between. You can choose from the Cove to Lake Cahuilla Trail, the Bear Creek Trailhead to Cave, or the Bear Creek Trail. If you are a hiker, La Quinta is for you!
Biking: La Quinta offers biking trails of all kinds, so if you are a pedal pusher, you will love La Quinta. You can choose from calming rides on paved roads or sidewalks in Old Town or in the neighborhoods or take the many bike trails throughout La Quinta and just outside of town. Bring your own bike — or rent one here!
Golf: La Quinta is perhaps the most famous golf destination in the Valley. It has 22 golf courses, many designed by world-famous golfers such as Arnold Palmer. There are many private golf courses, many public courses, and many country clubs that offer restaurants and bars galore. La Quinta has been known as one of the most famous host cities for the PGA Tour, the Bob Hope Classic, and many more. You can choose from one of the six courses in PGA West (it also offers two public and one private Club House), the Famous SilverRock Resort, La Quinta Resort golf course, Golf Club at La Quinta, or the many Country Clubs that offer some public and some private golf courses. +++++++Leaving the City of La Quinta, there are so many other golf courses in the valley, they are impossible to list — some private, some public. Most country clubs have their own golf course, some of which are public. As a resident or as a tourist, you have more choices than almost any other destination in the world.
Movie Theatre: La Quinta’s new Cinemark Theatre complex at the corner of Hwy 111 and Washington offers 10 individual theatres with a broad variety of movies. You will enjoy the extra-large reclining loungers and will watch your movie in style! Reserve your tickets in advance, choose your seats, and enjoy the show!
Shopping: La Quinta is known as the shopper’s paradise, with boutiques offering everything from handcrafted jewelry, apparel, and one-of-a-kind home décor pieces to bikes and sporting equipment, and art galleries. And of course, La Quinta offers big-name stores. You will find everything from baked goods to makeup, interior design stores, vintage apparel stores, and more.
If you leave the town of La Quinta, there are so many great shopping areas in the valley, it’s hard to mention them all. Whether you are a bargain hunter or a high-end shopper it is all here. From the Shops at El Paseo (the Valley’s own “Rodeo Drive”) to The River, a high-end Rancho Mirage complex offering fine dining and shops, to downtown Palm Springs, to the many wonderful consignment shops where you can find hidden treasures for your closet or your home. Art Galleries: La Quinta is home to many art galleries and programs, making La Quinta a city offering a rich culture. Scattered throughout the city, you can visit the La Quinta Museum, the Old Town Artisan Studio (in the Old Town section), Studio Osterberg Art Gallery, the Logan Gallery, and more.

- The Living Desert: One of the main Palm Springs Valley attractions, this 1,200-acre park located in Palm Desert features desert animals and plant life from around the world. It includes many animal enclosures, allowing visitors to see the giraffes against the mountain countryside or the stunning butterfly tent with thousands of breeds of butterflies. It is an unforgettable experience.
- Palm Springs Arial Tramway: Take the tramcar 8,516 feet above the desert floor to the mountaintop and enjoy the 360-degree view of the valley.
- Palm Springs Art Museum: in downtown Palm Springs, the Palm Springs Art Museum features 15,000 square feet of sophisticated collections of art, loaned or donated by many local and national affluent residents. The collection rivals urban metropolitan museums and includes works from Marc Chagall, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Donald Judd, Louise Bourgeois, Alexander Calder, and many more. It has two outdoor sculpture gardens, a café featuring American and Continental cuisine, and a museum store that includes one-of-a-kind gifts and art-related merchandise.
- Golfing: Palm Desert has many golf courses, some private, some public. And it is adjacent to all the courses in La Quinta and Rancho Mirage. Throughout the valley, most country clubs have their own golf course, some of which are public. As a resident or as a tourist, you have more choices than almost any other destination in the world.

North La Quinta
Acacia at La Quinta is a non-gated community in North La Quinta made up of single-level and two-story homes built between 1990 and 1994. Homes range in size from 1,280 to 2,355 sf and have two to five bedrooms. Prices range from the mid $200Ks to the $400Ks. There is no HOA for Acacia at La Quinta.
Aliso is a small, gated community in North La Quinta made of three- and four-bedroom homes. Built from 2000 to 2001, the homes range in size from 1,500 to over 2,000 sf. Prices range from $300K to $400K, and HOAs are $95 per month.
Bella Vista is a North La Quinta community offering homes from 1,830 to 7,000 sf, with three and four bedrooms, with one- and two-story homes available. The homes were built from 1997 to 2000 and values are approximately $400,000 to $500,000. Recent HOA fees were $110 per month.
Esplanade is a lovely, gated community in North La Quinta conveniently located near the 10 freeway and minutes away from major shopping and dining areas. Esplanade got its name from the lovely park with walkways that runs through the neighborhood. The 380 homes in Esplanade were built from 2003 to 2006, with floor plans offering 2,112 sf to over 3000 sf, some with detached casitas. Recent HOAs are $162 per month
La Quinta Del Oro is a gated community in North La Quinta, just minutes away from Hwy 111, the major shopping and dining area. It offers large family homes, including single and two-story homes, with as many as five bedrooms and floor plans ranging in size from 2,100 to 3,500 sf. Developed in 1990, the second phase was completed in 2005. Prices range from the low-$500Ks to the high-$600Ks. Recent HOA dues are approximately $137 per month.
La Quinta Del Rey is a non-gated North La Quinta community offering family homes from 1,250 to 2,000 sf, and three to four bedrooms. The homes were built in the 1990s, and there are no HOA dues in La Quinta del Rey.
La Quinta Palms is a charming, gated community in North La Quinta. The community is made up of condos priced from the mid-$100Ks to the mid-$200Ks.
Monticello is an affordable North La Quinta community with homes ranging from the mid-$200Ks to the high-$300Ks. Built in 2001 and 2002, the neighborhood offers three to five bedrooms ranging in size from just under 1,500 sf to over 3,000 sf. There are no HOA dues in this family neighborhood.
Palm Royale is a lovely, gated community of 350 one- and two-bedroom condominiums ranging in price from the low-$200Ks to the high-$200Ks. Sizes range from 763 to 926sf, all with golf course views. The homes in Palm Royale are clustered into groups surrounding the 18-hole “executive” par 3 golf course. The community offers a clubhouse, community pools, and tennis courts, as well as golf for homeowners.
Rancho Ocotillo is a North La Quinta community offering three to five-bedroom homes, ranging in size from 1,800 to 2,800 sf. Prices range from the mid-$300Ks to the $400Ks. There is no HOA in Rancho Ocotillo
Starlight Dunes is a gated North La Quinta community offering homes with three to five bedrooms, ranging in size from just over 2,000 to 3,600 sf. Built in 1990, the second phase of the development was completed in 2001. Prices range from the mid $300Ks to the $500Ks.
Topaz is a North La Quinta community offering homes ranging from 1,428 to 2,757sf., with prices ranging from the low-$400Ks to the $500Ks.
South La Quinta
Andalusia at Coral Mountain is a prestigious and elegant golf country club community in South La Quinta. This gated community of 900 homes is at the base of the Coral Mountains offering unsurpassed amenities and a fabulous collection of distinguished homes. The architecture in the homes and country club facilities were inspired by the Andalusian region of Southern Spain. The country club offers residents unparalleled amenities, including world-class Rees Jones-designed golfing (72 par), fabulous facilities, and unbelievable personal services all around 9 lakes scattered throughout the country club. Andalusia offers true gracious resort-style living that discriminating buyers are looking for. Golf memberships are $115,000 with $995 ongoing monthly dues. HOA dues are $636 per month (including social membership). Homes in Andalusia range from $1.3M to $3M, with three to five bedrooms, and ranging in size from about 2,700 to 5,200 sf.
Carmela is a small lovely, gated community in South La Quinta. It is a neighborhood of 61 Mediterranean-inspired homes, with lots available for 40 more. Homes range in size from 2,700 to 3,100 sf, in floor plans that include either three or four bedrooms, with prices ranging from the $400Ks to the high-$600Ks. HOA dues are $270 per month.
Casitas Las Rosas, built in 2003, is a neighborhood of 144 condos in South La Quinta, California. The condos are all one-bedroom, one-bath homes and are 684 sf. This quaint neighborhood is very close to Old Town La Quinta, and prices range from approximately $170,000 to $225,000.
Duna La Quinta in South La Quinta is a gated community of luxury homes and condominiums on the Dunes Golf Course. Next door to the Quinta Resort and Spa, owners at Duna La Quinta have access to the amenities of the La Quinta Resort & Spa, including the Resort’s Pete Dye-designed public courses – the Mountain Course and the Dunes course. Duna La Quinta offers community pools, tennis courts, and majestic Southern views of the Santa Rosa Mountains. Homes in Duna La Quinta include single-family homes ranging from 1,800 to 3,000 sf, with two or three bedrooms, and range in price from the mid-$400Ks to the $500Ks. Condos range from 1,500 to 2,600 sf and prices are between $250,000 and $640,000. HOAs are $460 per month for condos, and $428 per month for homes, and include landscape, trash, community pools, spa, and tennis use. Having been built in 1984 and 1985, most of the homes and condos in Duna La Quinta have been remodeled and upgraded.
Griffin Ranch is a newer high-end luxury neighborhood located on 240 acres in a master-planned equestrian community built in 2005 in South La Quinta. The 24-hour guard gated community offers a pastoral setting, including regal and dignified wooden gates, equestrian white fences, bridges, and a stream, with lush landscaping throughout the community. Offered in eleven-floor plans from 3,271 to 4,820 sf, the homes are the ultimate in luxurious living, with high ceilings, high-end finishes, and lovely courtyards and every home offers fabulous views of the golf course and mountains. Many of the homes also offer detached casitas. Owners can choose from resales of current homes or build your own home on the lot of your choice with your choice of finishings. Prices range from the mid-$900Ks to 1.6M. Recent HOAs are $653 per month and include club amenities.
Haciendas at La Quinta is a private gated community on the Dunes Course at the La Quinta Resort and Spa. The community includes 65 ranch-style homes built with old-world Spanish influence. Built in 2002, the homes range from 2,236 to 2,900 sf and range in price from the mid-$700Ks to $1M. HOAs are approximately $180 per month. Owners can enjoy the Pete Dye-designed public golf course through membership at the La Quinta Resort & Spa. Nestled right up against the foothills, Hidden Canyon in South La Quinta is a lovely private and prestigious neighborhood built in 2005-2006. It is an intimate community of 200 single-family homes on large lots, most with private pools and spas. This luxurious community offers stunning interiors, including formal dining rooms, 8-foot interior doors, high soaring ceilings, and many energy-saving features. The homes also offer gourmet kitchens, large master suites, and gorgeous views from every room. Home prices range from the $600Ks to the $900Ks, and are offered in floor plans ranging from 2,400 to 3,500 sf. This neighborhood has no clubhouse, community pool, or workout facility so HOAs are very low, at $200 per month. However, homeowners can access the Spa La Quinta just 5 minutes away with access to many local public golf courses.
The Hideaway in South La Quinta is one of those neighborhoods that embodies the best experience of true gracious resort-style living, world-class amenities, championship golf, and private, luxurious homes. The neighborhood sits on 600 acres of rolling hills of golf courses and spectacular views. It is perhaps one of the most exclusive communities in the entire Coachella Valley, with both new and resale homes available. Sizes range from 2,800 to 8,000 sf. Homes values are from $2.1M to $8M, and “bungalows” are available from $1.3M to $1.5M. Custom lots are available as well, and range in price from $350K to $2M. Other amenities include a world-class clubhouse and dining facilities, tennis courts, a fitness center, a full-service spa, locker rooms, as well as two 18-hole golf courses.
La Cantera is a small exclusive gated community in South La Quinta made up of 59 single-family homes. Built in 2005 and 2006, La Cantera offers homes ranging in size from 2,297 to 3,500 sf, with three to four bedrooms. The homes are offered in both single and two-story models. Values range from the $700Ks to the $900Ks. With no expensive clubhouse or golf course to support, HOAs are low, at $240 per month. Cantera is just across the street from public golf courses and country clubs, as well as world-class shopping and dining in Old Town La Quinta and El Paseo, the valley’s own “Rodeo Drive”.
Laguna De La Paz is a lovely 24-hour guard gated community made up of 400 two- and three-bedroom residences ranging in size from 1,562 to over 2,000 sf. Built between 1984 and 1995, Laguna De La Paz’s homes range from the low $300Ks to the high $400Ks. The community offers a seven-acre lake with an electric pontoon boat and pedal boats, pools, spas, and five tennis courts. Also included is a recreation area with bocce ball courts and shuffleboard, a fitness center, a clubhouse, and walking trails throughout the neighborhood.
Lake La Quinta in South La Quinta is a 24-hour guard gated community that surrounds the gorgeous 25-acre lake that meanders around the entire community. The neighborhood is made up of 288 single-family homes ranging in size from 2,000 to over 3,600 sf., with three to four bedrooms, with prices ranging from $600,000 to $1.1M. Recent HOA fees are $433 per month. SilverRock Resort is very nearby, featuring a golf course designed by Arnold Palmer covering over 200 acres, as well as the three public golf courses at the nearby world-famous PGA WEST.
La Quinta Country Club – Club at La Quinta is one of the oldest and most well-known and established country clubs in La Quinta. Founded in 1959, this member-owned country club has hosted many professional golf tournaments. The neighborhood covers 130 acres with 540 homes that meander throughout the golf course or are adjacent to the course. Homes range in price from $250,000 to $3M. Condos range in value from approximately $200,000 to $500,000. Recent HOA dues are approximately $300 per month to $525 per month. Many of the condos and homes have been renovated and upgraded Golf membership is $75,000, with golf dues at $1,512 per month.
La Quinta Country Club Estates is a beautiful golf course community with some of the most elegant homes in the valley. Most of the homes are nestled in their own cul-de-sac, providing privacy and intimacy. Many of the homes are gated themselves, with courtyards, saltwater pebble tech pools, outdoor kitchen eating areas, and fire pits. This gated community offers homes from two to four bedrooms, ranging in size from approximately 1,700 to approximately 5,000 sf, and in price from $350,000 to $1.3M.
La Quinta Country Club Fairways is a guard-gated community at the La Quinta Country Club offering condos from two to three bedrooms, ranging in size from 2,000 to 3,025 sf. The La Quinta Country Club is one of the most popular country clubs in the valley because of its active golf community and its close and socially active membership. It includes a large clubhouse, built in 2009. Fairways is nestled up against the Santa Rosa mountains, with fabulous views, and is adjacent to the La Quinta Resort and Club. It is the neighborhood for those looking for gracious country club living while maintaining low fees.
La Quinta Country Club Golf Estates is a residential community in the La Quinta Country Club offering custom homes, some of the most luxurious homes in the Country Club. This community started its development in the 1960s and just recently was completely built out, so homes here range from 40 years old, to just several years old. Recent home values range from approximately $450,000 to $7M. Golf Estates amenities include an 18-hole Larry Hughes-designed golf course, a 36,000 sf Santa Barbara-style clubhouse, a fitness center, a full spa, and more.
La Quinta Country Club – Lago La Quinta is near the La Quinta Country Club and offers two and three-bedroom condos, with sizes ranging from 2,300 sf to over 3,000 sf. The community was developed in the 1970s, and many have been remodeled beautifully.
La Quinta Country Club – Montero Estates is an exclusive neighborhood nestled deep in La Quinta Country Club. It offers custom homes with golf course views and smaller homes, not on the golf course. A private gated community, it was built in the 1970s and 1980s, and is made up of homes with influences from Spanish, contemporary, and mid-century modern styles. Homes range in size from 1,620 sf to 2,900 sf, with two to three bedrooms. Recent home values are in the mid-$600Ks to the $700Ks, with recent HOA dues at $300 to $475 per month.
La Quinta Country Club – Villas of La Quinta is a community made up of condominiums ranging in size from 1,368 to 1,558 sf. The two and three-bedroom condos range in size from 1,368 to 1,558 sf. As part of the La Quinta Country Club, and adjacent to the country club, homeowners enjoy the membership amenities at the world-famous La Quinta Country Club
La Quinta Cove is one of the city’s oldest neighborhoods and is only a short walk away from Old Town La Quinta and its quaint shops and varied restaurants. You’ll find a variety of eating establishments, from the old coffee shop, to casual dining, to higher-end fine dining. Originally developed in the 1950’s it is made up of homes that are decades old, many of which are remodeled, as well as homes built in the last 5 years. This gives the neighborhood a unique blend of the old and the new, providing a diverse array of architectural styles, sizes, and home prices. You might see a sprawling high-end home taking up two lots next to a smaller cottage-like home next door.
La Quinta Polo Estates is a unique upscale, equestrian neighborhood in South La Quinta built in the late 1980s. The 50 luxurious and uniquely appointed homes in this neighborhood are between 4,000 to 9,200 sf. on lots averaging two acres with equestrian facilities. Recent home values are at $1M to $3.5M, and recent lot values range from the $300Ks to the $400Ks. HOA dues are $355 per month.
La Quinta Resort Spa Villas is a condominium community at the La Quinta Resort & Club. Built in 1999, condominiums are offered in one, two, and three-bedroom floor plans ranging from 934 to 2,400 sf. As part of the La Quinta Resort & Club, villa owners can participate in the La Quinta Resort Rental Management Program, allowing owners to offer them as vacation rentals through the Resort’s leasing program.
La Quinta Resort Tennis Villas in South La Quinta is a neighborhood of townhomes ranging from one- to three-bedrooms, and in size from 1,130 to 1,931 sf. and offer attached garages. Adjacent to the La Quinta Resort & Spa, these townhomes make great vacation homes or rentals.
Legacy Villas in South La Quinta is a guard-gated condo and townhome community near the La Quinta Resort & Club. Homes are available in two and three-bedroom townhomes and range in size from 1,300 sf to 2,119 sf.
Lion’s Gate Estates in South La Quinta is a luxurious gated community of 25 stately homes. The neighborhood is made up of 19 acres, with individual lots of approximately 1.25 acres. Spectacular views come with each home, and sizes range from 4,000 sf to 5,500 sf. Buyers can choose a resale home or consider new home construction on one of the available lots. Recent home values range from $1.4M to $2.5M, with custom lot values ranging from $360,000 to $650.000. Recent HO fees are $130 per month.
Los Estados in South La Quinta is a gated community of 40 luxury homes ranging in size from 2,405 sf to 3,508 sf, and floor plans are three and four bedrooms, some with a separate casita. Prices range from the high $600Ks to $1M+, with recent HOAs at $495 per month. Situated in the La Quinta Resort & Spa, the homes offer unsurpassed mountain views as well as of the Mountain Course of the resort.
Mountain View Country Club is a luxuriously landscaped and built community of both condos and large, high-end homes. The 426 homes and 50 condo homes in the country club range in size from 2,000 sf to 4,500 sf. One of the newer country clubs, Mountain View CC was built in 2002. Home values range from the mid- $500Ks to $1.9M, and condos from $500,000 to the $700Ks. It is built on an Arnold Palmer Signature golf course, and homes offer stunning mountain and golf course views. Mountain View Country Club is well known as one of the friendlier country clubs, with a very active country club membership. The Clubhouse is a beautiful Spanish-style Clubhouse with old world Spanish-style bar, dining areas, lounges with beautiful views, and all the other amenities that a higher-end country club comes with – fitness center, spa, golf shop, women’s and men’s locker rooms, tennis courts, a lap pool, and a snack bar.
Painted Cove in South La Quinta is a charming gated neighborhood offering elegant and gracious Ministrelli-built homes on large lots of about ¼ acre, with prices ranging from the high $600ks to the high $800ks. Built in 1991, it is a small enclave of 76 homes with private fenced yards, three to four bedrooms, and sizes ranging in size from 2,700 to 4,000 sf. As a resident, you can enjoy dining on the patio with Mountain and golf course views at the city’s fabulous Silver Rock Resort, featuring the Arnold Palmer Classic Course, where you can use your attractive resident discount.
Pamilla is considered one of South La Quinta’s most prominent gated communities. Made up of 160 contemporary homes built from 2002 to 2005, the neighborhood boasts impressive architecture such as elegant French doors, stone veneer, interlocking pavers, lush landscapes, and spacious covered patios. The community offers water features, in addition to stunning mountains and golf course views. Homes are offered in six-floor plans, with two to five bedrooms, and range from 2,900 to 4,620 sf. Prices range from $675,000 to $1.1M. One of the advantages many Palmilla residents love is that it’s right next door to The Citrus, a high-end community with full golf and country club lifestyle – and a secret gate joins the two neighborhoods, offering easy access for golf carts.
Parc La Quinta is a lovely gated South La Quinta community of 150 homes just South of the prestigious Rancho La Quinta Country Club. Built in 1989, many of the homes have been beautifully remodeled. Homes are three to four bedrooms, with sizes ranging from 1,600 to 2,300 sf and prices ranging from $320,000 to $470,000. HOA monthly dues are $129.
PGA – Greg Norman is one of the seven neighborhoods that make up PGA West. Built between 2002 and 2006, this neighborhood is one of PGA’s newer communities and offers 180 elegant single-family homes ranging from approximately 2,500 to 5,000 sf., all with private pools/spas on large lots. Homes range in price from the $800Ks to $1.2M, with condos ranging from $250,000 to $800,000. PGA West is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the country, and perhaps the most famous golf community as well. It is the largest golf community and the largest real estate development in the Palm Springs area real estate market. The golf courses offer 109 holes of golf covering over 2,200 acres, with over 1,400 homes in seven different neighborhoods, most of which have the Spanish and Mediterranean architectural styles. PGA offers six golf courses, three of which are private and three public. There are three beautiful clubhouses, two public and one private. PGA West homes range in price from the $500Ks to $3M. PGA opened in 1984, and the homes were built between the 1980s and 2009. HOA dues vary from neighborhood to neighborhood. A full golf membership at PGA is $45,000, with ongoing monthly dues at about $1400. Sports Membership is $45,000, with ongoing monthly dues at $376 per month.
PGA – Legends community is made up of 625 luxurious and elegantly appointed homes within the Nicklaus Tournament and Weiskopf Private Courses and was developed between 1999 to 2006. These large three- to five-bedroom homes range in price from the $600Ks to $1.3M, ranging in size from 2,483 to 5,312 sf. The homes are magnificently built with pools, spas, and beautiful entertaining backyards, all with stunning golf and/or mountain views. Legends is known to offer some of the most elegant homes in all of PGA West. PGA West is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the country, and perhaps the most famous golf community as well. It is the largest golf community and the largest real estate development in the Palm Springs area real estate market. The golf courses offer 109 holes of golf covering over 2,200 acres, with over 1,400 homes in seven different neighborhoods, most of which have the Spanish and Mediterranean architectural styles. PGA offers six golf courses, three of which are private and three public. There are three beautiful clubhouses, two public and one private.
