Palm Desert is a well-established resort community in the heart of the Coachella Valley, about 2.5 hours away from Los Angeles (approximately 115 miles), 2 hours West of Orange County (Disneyland), and 4 hours south of Las Vegas by car.  It is a quick trip west to Palm Springs’ entertaining, nightlife, and shopping, and only minutes away to the south from the ever-popular El Paseo Drive, the Coachella Valley’s own “Rodeo Drive” and The River.

About Palm Desert

Palm Desert is a thriving, year-round community with the natural beauty and recreational amenities of a resort destination, offering big-city resources, in a friendly small-town, resort community setting.  The city’s first-class educational facilities, healthy real estate market, varied job opportunities, safe and clean streets, plentiful parks and a wealth of shopping choices make it unique among Coachella Valley cities.

Palm Desert has changed over the years from a sandy cove at the foot of the Santa Rosa mountains into a sprawling shopping, entertainment and recreation mecca.  Catch a show at the McCallum Theatre, a state-of-the-area performance venue that has hosted some of the world’s top entertainers, as well as touring Broadway acts; feed a giraffe at the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens.  Or you can visit the Palm Springs Art Museum’s outdoor sculpture garden.  You can even take a long (or short) hike on the city’s Bump and Grind Trail and enjoy the panoramic views from atop the mountain. Of course, there is always golf to play, at the city’s many country clubs and public golf courses.

Palm Desert is a popular retreat for “snowbirds” from cooler climates (Western Canada, Washington, and Oregon, as well as Northern California).  Recently, however, Palm Desert has seen more residents become “full-timers”, mainly from the coasts and urban centers of California, who have come for both affordable housing and high-valued home prices.
