Location
Rancho Mirage is a beautiful, well-established resort community, about 2.5 hours away from Los Angeles (approximately 115 miles), 2 hours West of Orange County (Disneyland), and 4 hours south of Las Vegas by car. The city is in the heart of the Coachella Valley, making it a quick trip west to the Palm Springs entertaining, nightlife and shopping, and only minutes away to the south from the ever-popular El Paseo Drive, the Coachella Valley’s own “Rodeo Drive”.
About Rancho Mirage
Rancho Mirage is known for its offerings of high-end living, its long history of attracting many celebrities (Bob Hope, Fred Astaire Ginger Rogers, Lucille Ball, Mary Martin, and many others), and its world-class dining and shopping. With a population of over 17,000, the city has thirteen golf courses, also known as country clubs or golf resorts. The homes and condos are primarily in gated communities, many are part of the adjoining country club or golf course.
History
Rancho Mirage got its claim to fame after World War II. The Annenberg Estate or Sunnylands, owned by philanthropists Walter and Leonore Annenberg, had long been popular with the wealthy and powerful, including Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Patrick Macnee, and Mary Martin. Several United States Presidents have vacationed at the Annenberg estate, including Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, and Gerald Ford. President Ford later bought a house in Rancho Mirage and lived there at the time of his death in 2006. The Betty Ford Center is a world-renowned addiction rehabilitation center. Rancho Mirage is also home to the sought-after Eisenhower Medical Center.

- Concerts in the Park: Free concerts in the park happen at 6 p.m. each Thursday night in October. When the sun slips below the mountains to the west and the lights come up on the Palm Desert Civic Center Park amphitheater, you know you’re in for a delightful evening of music by some of the top acts from across the region. Held each spring and fall for 25 years, Palm Desert’s free Concerts in the Park series has become a “can’t miss” series of events for residents and visitors alike.
- The River: The premier destination for shopping, theatre, and dining complex with many restaurants, a multi-plex theatre
- Children’s Discovery Center
- Casino: Home to the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, and the Agua Caliente Casino. The casino is a popular destination for locals, tourists, and gambling enthusiasts offering many big acts such as Steve Martin/Martin Short, Howie Mandell, and many others.
- Parks and Trails: The city and the area offer numerous parks and trails, endless opportunities to go hiking, rock climbing, or simply have a picnic.
- The Living Desert: One of the main Palm Springs Valley attractions, this 1,200-acre park located in Palm Desert features desert animals and plant life from around the world. It includes many animal enclosures, allowing visitors to see the giraffes against the mountain countryside or the stunning butterfly tent with thousands of breeds of butterflies. It is an unforgettable experience.
- Palm Springs Aerial Tramway: Take the tramcar 8,516 feet above the desert floor to the mountaintop and enjoy the 360-degree view of the valley.
- Palm Springs Art Museum: In downtown Palm Springs, the Palm Springs Art Museum features 15,000 square feet of sophisticated collections of art, loaned or donated by many local and national affluent residents. The collection rivals urban metropolitan museums and includes works from Marc Chagall, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Donald Judd, Louise Bourgeois, Alexander Calder, and many more. It has two outdoor sculpture gardens, a café featuring American and Continental cuisine, and a museum store that includes one-of-a-kind gifts and art-related merchandise.
- Golfing: Palm Desert has many golf courses, some private, and some public. And it is adjacent to all the courses in La Quinta and Rancho Mirage. Throughout the valley, most country clubs have their own golf course, some of which are public. As a resident or as a tourist, you have more choices than almost any other destination in the world.
- Shopping: There are so many great shopping areas in the valley, it’s hard to mention them all. Whether you are a bargain hunter or a high-end shopper, we have it all. From the Shops at El Paseo (the Valley’s own rodeo drive) to downtown Palm Springs to Old Town La Quinta to the many wonderful consignment shops where you can find hidden treasures for your closet or your home. The homes are between 2000 and 4,000 sq ft, offer two to four bedrooms, and range in price from $435,000 to $600,000. Recent HOA dues are $600. The Springs Country Club is a prestigious, 24-hour guard-gated golf club community centrally located in Rancho Mirage, California. Almost every home has stunning views of the lake, golf course, fairway, or mountain views. Versailles is a lovely, well-established community in the heart of Rancho Mirage, CA, just East of Eisenhower Medical Center. A beautiful, gated community offering common areas of lush landscape, several basketball courts, and tennis courts, Versailles is an extremely sought-after community in Rancho Mirage. Versailles’ main entry gate is right off Gerald Ford, West of Monterey. Versailles is made up of single-family homes built between 2004 and 2006, ranging in price from $400,000 to $900,000. There are no condos in Versailles. Homes range from approx. 2400 sq ft to approx. 4500 sq ft. The homes have attached garages, many with golf cart garages as well, and are built on large lots, many with private pools and spas, and most with South and Western Mountain Views. The architectural style is California Bungalow and the Mediterranean. HOA fees are reasonable at approx. $210/month, because there is no Clubhouse or golf course to maintain. Mission Hills Golf Club is nearby as well as many other public golfing opportunities. Rancho Mirage Pavilions Shopping Center is right down the street. Versailles is in the Imperial Irrigation District (IID) for its electric power, providing much cheaper rates than other nearby neighborhoods, which fall in southern California Edison coverage areas.
Victoria Falls is a lovely, well-established community offering single-family homes ranging in size from approx. 2200 sq ft to approx. 5700 sq ft, with prices ranging from $450,000 to $950,000. Most are single-story, but some are two-story homes, and there are no condos in Victoria Falls. Many of the homes have attached or detached casitas and many have attached garages, golf cart garages, and larger lots. The community was developed by renowned builder, Peter Solomon between 2000 and 2004. The beautiful entry gates with striking waterfall features are on Gerald Ford Dr. just West of Monterey. Victoria Falls is adjacent to Mission Hills Country Club and the Westin Resort. Victoria Falls, homeowners receive special rates to play golf at The Westin for Rancho Mirage residents. There is no clubhouse at Victoria Falls, no golf course, and no fitness center, (lower HOAs, at $300/month). It offers outdoor basketball courts, and tennis courts, and lots of shaded streets for walking or bike riding. You can even take your golf cart out the back gate over to Mission Hills!
